Dismounted Soldier

Today’s dismounted infantryman can be called
upon to perform any number of different roles, but, regardless of
the task, mobility, protection and communication are essential
requirements.
Mobility
Equipment must allow personnel to
rapidly and safely dismount from vehicles, while continuing to
remain in communication. In the vehicle this means
connection to the vehicle’s intercom systems (VIS) and, once
dismounted, access to the vehicle platform via personal
and man portable radios.
The need for capable equipment, with reduced
weight, becomes ever more important for the dismounted
soldier, contributing to their overall level of combat
mobility.
Protection
The dismounted soldier faces a far more
complex noise challenge compared to the mounted soldier;
specifically broadband noise generated by the vehicle and/or
platform impulse noise produced by small arms weapons
discharge and explosive blasts.
Communications
It is necessary to ensure that personnel are
afforded the highest levels of noise protection from these
sources, to safeguard personal hearing and ensure that combat
effectiveness is not compromised.
Racal uses its wide knowledge and vast
experience to balance these elements in its headset and handset
design, providing fully operational solutions for the most exacting
of requirements.
