RA205 Field Telephone

Overview

RA205 Field handset

The success of many military operations be they active, peacekeeping or humanitarian, depends on co-ordination and timing.

Reliable fixed line field communications delivers that capability and remains a vital element in achieving positive mission outcomes. The ability to clearly communicate information, anytime, anywhere with accuracy and reliability is often the difference between mission success and failure.

The RA205 field handset provides the functionality of a standard telephone but in a more ruggedised, reliable package for use in extreme conditions. This easy to use handset can be used with a range of electronic PABX's and telephone exchanges.

Key Features

  • Functional in hostile environments
  • Rugged and waterproof
  • Reliable and serviceable
  • Slim-line, lightweight construction

Benefits

This handset is fully operational in extremes of temperature, driving rain, salt spray and dust, enabling it to be used reliably in the harshest of environments. The RA205 can be connected using two small snap-on D10 terminals or an RJ11 connector giving the subscriber the flexibility to make calls connected to either a field cable or to an office telephone line.

The RA205's slim-line construction enables it to be used whilst wearing a helmet and easily carried in the subscriber's pocket making it portable and easy to use whatever the operational situation.

Applications

The subscriber has visual ringing and hook status indicators which are visible from both the front and the back of the unit, useful when the audio ringing has to be muted, and ideal for covert operations.

Combining DTMF signalling and PTT operation, this field handset provides subscribers with the functionality of a standard modern telephone in an easy to use package. This includes a 10 number store, that by pressing just one key, enables selected numbers to be dialled.

The tough design, incorporating a polyurethane bumper surround, offering added protection and a hook for hanging the telephone, illustrates the degree to which this handset was developed with real users in mind.
