Machinery Station
The constant
noise, heat and often cramped conditions found in
machinery stations call for headsets and handsets with different
operational criteria than those designed of use in other areas of
the ship. While hearing protection is still a ‘must have’, comfort,
both in terms of ventilation and fit, become even more
critical.
In addition to cutting through and reducing
background noise, engine room headsets and handsets need to
withstand drops, snags and the effects of machine oil and the other
contaminants that are part of the machine room environment.
Specific to engine room application, Racal has
designed headsets that are lightweight, comfortable to wear
over long periods and apply the optimal pressure required to
achieve an acoustic seal.
