Weapons Station

A weapons station combines the inherent difficulties of on-deck communication together with the additional high levels of impulse noise generated by weapons activity. These potentially damaging noise levels can quickly result in operators experiencing hearing problems, meaning hearing protection is a fundamental requirement in ensuring combat effectiveness is maintained. 

However, hearing protection must not be allowed to compromise clear communications - targets need to be acquired and  mission objectives accomplished. In such situations, headsets need to be comfortable for use over long periods, stable on a very unstable platform and compatible with helmets and other protective equipment.
